SOMETHING FORBIDDEN

SOMETHING FORBIDDEN – By Awesome Kunbi

“I’m sick on the inside.

Can you tell from the outside?”

The shovel digs deep into the dirt, moon bright as it overlooks the scene and the atmosphere is tense. You can smell death in the air.

You dig deeper, panting as the harshness of your thrusts into the hole shake you to the bones.

Pausing for a moment you take a look at what you’re about to bury and you sigh. If only it stood still, it wouldn’t have suffered this fate. But it was barking too loud and it was killing the moment, dogs and their stupid loyalty, loyal even in the face of death.

“Isn’t pain rather beautiful,

Inflicting it, I mean.”

You walk back into your house, stride heavy, heart free…You feel no guilt.

“Haven’t you done enough?” you hear him say, his eyes looking defiant but you know how he felt on the inside, you chuckle, not willing to give him a reply. You like a little bit of suspense.

Storried Something Forbidden

Pulling out an open wire connected to the wall, you walk towards him, your steps intentionally slow. You watch him swallow, he looked rather beautiful like this. Bound and tied to the wall, his light skin marred with pretty bruises, his left eye an art of colors, he looked delicious.

The charge in the wire wasn’t high, so you know all it would do was really just cause him a little pain… Pain is relative.

“Please”

You hear him beg, his voice shaky from the last time he screamed, you think of how attractive he would be without that damning voice… Screaming like a banshee wasn’t an attractive trait.

“Take me somewhere only we know

Somewhere only we know.”

“Why are you doing this? ”

He whispers, looking at you with eyes that say he is hurt, that’s what you want him to feel… Not just emotionally, however, physically works well too.

He screams loud. Vibrating from the electric shocks, his skin looking like it wants to dance off his bones. His lips moves like he’s about to speak in tongues.

You laugh. Why?

Because it’s a rather funny sight.

“You have a secret.

Something you think only you know.

You now know better.”

A ping rings through the room, stopping you in your tracks, walking to the device on the table you see a message from him.

Your heart aches, you want to cry, you want to laugh, you want to end it. End them.

You watched them, how they held hands in the backseat, how they exchanged smiles at the balcony, you watched them…how they kissed like lovers… And you wondered what it was about you that he didn’t like?

You were a man of God, a messenger of the most high, a man worshipped by many and yet… He couldn’t find anything to love.

So what if you have a wife, or that you have children almost his age, so what if he begged you to pray the gay away…

You loved him and it’s not the same.

“We both have secrets.

Mine is a lot dirtier than yours.

Mine is full of bloody tales.”

When the town finds out, you don’t deny the accusation, you were done playing pretence, the church was a mask you wore and you are ready to pull it off.

So they said you were mad, that God must be punishing you for your sins and you laugh as you sit in the black Maria, you laugh like a hyena trapped in a corner, because yes. You were being punished for a secret only you know.
