Uzoma had returned home from work earlier than usual to surprise his wife, Ngozi, on Valentines’ night. Behind him, he was clutching a bunch of red roses he had picked up at the florist. A puzzled look quickly came over his features almost as soon as he eased open the front door. Wafting from upstairs was some soft music, a woman purring contently and a deep male voice.

Uzoma’s jaw stiffened and the roses dropped from his hand onto the laminate flooring.

He crept upstairs.

At the bedroom door, he held his breath as his trembling hand lingered over the door handle for what seemed like ages. Finally, he exhaled and turned the handle.

His eyes widened as he took in the sight of Ngozi reclining on their matrimonial bed in matching red bra and panties.
She smiled mischievously and winked: “Welcome home darling. Do you like your Valentines day present?”

She saw the confused look on his face.

“I suspected you would come home early today to surprise me so I planned a little surprise of my own.”

From the CD player lying on the bedside cabinet, Barry White serenaded a woman.
